About the Cafeteria
Students may bring their own lunches or purchase a hot lunch or salad bar in the school cafeteria. Pizza or any other type of fast food may not be ordered and delivered to school while school is in session. Students are expected to show respect for their fellow students by leaving tables, chairs and floors clean. Throwing food in the cafeteria will result in a two-day suspension. Food/drinks may not be taken out of the cafeteria. Pop/drinks bought at school are not to be taken into the academic area.
The cafeteria staff works hard every day to ensure your child is offered nutritional meals. We also keep on looking for ways to entice our students to eat healthier when they go through the al-a-cart line. We have added more fruit juices and low fat dairy items and are trying to offer more fresh fruit. We welcome suggestions from the students, so if your child has a favorite nutritional snack have them let us know.
I would like to encourage you to check out the nutritional content of our NutriKids menus posted above. There is a lot of information, but the most important page is the Weekly Averages found on the last page of each week. Some days may be slightly higher on fat than the Target, and some lower. The Weekly Menu Average meets or exceeds the guidelines in most areas. The only issue we have is trying to keep the sodium down. Condiments are the biggest sodium issue. I am working with our food distibuter to find items lower in sodium. If you have any questions, please call or email me.
