November 10

  • Thursday - students may wear red, white or blue tops with their uniform bottoms in honor of Veterans Day.
  • Friday - students may wear BD spirit wear (only) for their tops with their uniform bottoms.  
  • The new BDHS competitive dance team will be meeting today, November 10th 6pm-8:30pm in the cafeteria.    All levels of dance are welcome! Come check it out!  Join this new student driven group! 
  • Anyone interested in the gymnastics team is asked to sign a form in the AD's office by non on Thursday, November 11th.  See Mr. Slee in the AD office for more information.
  • FBLA meeting on Thursday, November 11th at 7:20am in the cafeteria.
  • Keys Club Members - meet in the cafeteria after school on Friday for the yearbook picture.
  • The French Club will be meeting on Thursday afternoon at 3:10pm in Mrs. Foltz's room 219.  Everyone is welcome whether you are in French class or not.   Bring a friend and join us!
  • Spanish Club:  movie night has been moved to Thursday, Nov. 11th to give students more time to sign up on Canvas.  Join us to watch the Day of Dead movie "Coco" at 6pm, room 221.
  • St. Mother Teresa Club is cancelled for November 10.  next meeting will be November 17th.
  • Pueri Cantores Choral Festival will be on Friday, March 25 at St. Pius X Church this year.  If you are interested in participating in this diocesan liturgical choir, see Mrs. Maloney for a registration packet.  Registrations are due on November 19th.
  • Auditions for the spring musical, "I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change" will be Tuesday, November 16th after school in the choir room.  Signups are online.  Rehearsals begin late March with performances the first weekend in May.  See Mrs. Maloney for details.
  • The week of November 15th-19th please bring in non-perishable food items to the bus at the front of the school. Our goal is to stuff the buss with 600lbs of non-perishable food items that we will donate to St. Mary’s Soup Kitchen and Miss Virginia’s Food Pantry.
    If we can stuff the bus the school gets a dress down day!

November 4

  • Pre-Act Testing will be administered to grades 10 and 11 on November 10th.  Students will get done early and dismissal is at 12:00pm.  No lunch will be served.  Students who receive extra testing time will be finished at 1:15pm.  Please adjust your rides if you do not drive yourself to school.  Grade 9 will receive instructions on how to complete a Naviance lesson.  Grade 12 will have the day to use for any remaining career or college visits or applications.  Do not bring any cell phones, smart watches or any other electronic devices to school that day.  No there will be no E-Learning and No lunch.  Make sure you do bring a water bottle, 2 - #2 pencils, eraser and a calculator.
  • Sectional Finals Friday night - Saints vs. Snider!  Everyone needs a ticket, no passes of any type will be accepted.  Pre-sale tickets will be available for students to purchase  on Friday, in the cafeteria, during all lunches.  Tickets are $6 each - cash only.  
  • Spanish Club will have a Movie Night today @ 6pm in Mrs. Becker's classroom 221.  Sign up online on Canvas to reserve a spot.  Join us to watch the Day of the Dead movie - "Coco".

November 3

  • SEA will be picking up 2nd floor recycling today after school.  Please meet in Room 112 @ 3:05, sign in and get started.  We will also be meeting @ 7:25am Thursday morning.  Snacks will be provided.

  • Alexandra Beber, who left for Spain last week, competed in the Aquathon World Championship this past weekend.  She won her age bracket (16 - 19).  She had a time of 51:57 and broke her personal record by about 2 minutes.  Congratulations Alexandra!

November 1

  • Our Speech Team was in action in Indy this weekend against twenty other schools.  Our Saints took 2nd defeating some of the top teams in the state.  Top scores came from Claire Cartwright, Grace Wilson, Kaylee Mulligan, Cassidy Clarke and Eva Kountouris.
  • Reminder, All Men wrestling season begins today, Monday, November 1st from 3:30-5:30 in the wrestling room.  All paperwork needs to be turned in to be able to practice!!!  Please use locker rooms to change, but do not leave items in there, bring them to the wrestling room for storage.
  • Art Club will be meeting this Wednesday, November 3rd after school in Mrs. Scheribel's room.

October 25

  1. Congratulations to the BD Cheerleaders who competed at the Indiana State Cheerleading Preliminaries on Saturday.  The varsity AND JV will be competing in finals on November 6th at New Castle High School.
  2. Philomena's Friends will be meeting today in Room 108 after school today until 3:45.
  3. Detention will be after school today at 3:05pm in the Testing Center.
  4. The annual 21st Century Scholar meetings are Tuesday and Wednesday.  Students involved in this program have received a note telling them where to report (Multi-Purpose Room) and at what time.  
  5. Congratulations to the Spell Bowl team on winning their 2nd competition of the season this past Wednesday.  Good luck to the team as they prepare for their Area meet next Monday.
  6. Our Speech Team josted the 5th Annual Martin Bisson Tierneyment this weekend - the 1st in-person Speech Tournament in 19 months.  The Saints CRUSHED District competition amassing more points than the other 7 teams COMBINED!  Event championships were won by Grace Wilson, Marie Scudder, Cassie Smith, Hunter Felton-Kaminskas, Lucy Scudder, Eric Dumford and Seth Schiffli.  Congratulations Saints!

October 18

  1. Congratulations to the cheerleaders who competed at Northwood on Saturday.  Both the JC and Varsity won their divisions!  Great job girls!
  2. In tennis action, Remy Miller and JP O'Brien lost a close match 6-4, 7-5 in the Kokomo Semi-state.  The tennis team ended the season with an 11-9 record and a Conference Championship.  Great job Tennis Team!

October 12

  • The PSAT will be administered to students in grades 9, 10, and 11.  Seniors will have a "College Go!" Day to work on college applications or make campus visits.  The schedule will be modified with testing done at 1:30.  Students with accommodations will get done around 2:00pm.  Please bring 2 - #2 pencils, eraser, calculator and bottled water.  A snack will be provided and you will be served lunch.  There are no make-up dates so please plan to be here and be prepared to do your best.  Look for your testing room, posted throughout the school.
  • PSAT TESTING AND CALCULATORS:  Bring your own calculator on Wednesday (leave it in your locker Tuesday night).  Make sure your calculator is charged (check that today!).  The math teachers do not have enough calculators to loan out on Wednesday morning so you need to be prepared!
  • Recycling will be Tuesday and Thursday this week due to the PSAT.  Please be in room 112 around 3:05 and sign in.

September 21

  • We have a 1-Hour delay tomorrow morning.  Classes will begin at 8:55am sharp.  Please plan accordingly and do not be tardy.
  • The Tennis Team ended the regular season with a 3-2 loss to Leo.  #3 Singles player Will McArdle won 7-6; 7-6 and the #1 Double team of Remy Miller and JP O'Brien won 6-2; 4-6 and 6-3.  The team ended the regular season 9-8 and will play Sectionals next week.  Good Luck Tennis Team!!!
  • Juniors and Seniors, Ball State University will be here this Thursday @ 9am, 2nd period; University of Chicago will be here @ 8am.  All permission slips must be signed and turned into Guidance before Wednesday afternoon.
  • Wednesday morning at 8:30am there will be Spanish 3 tutoring in Ms. Yanez's room.  Please come if your teacher has recommended you to attend.

  • S.E.A. is kicking off their annual water bottle sales.  Bottles are dark blue, purple or red and feature the 21/22 design done by Maria Post.  They are translucent (following the BDHS Guidelines).  Cost is $15.  Forms can be found at the Main office and in Mrs. Walker's classroom 112.

  • The Tennis Team defeated Angola last night in a thrilling 3-2 match!  Ben Sarrazine at the #2 Singles won a long 3 setter 6-2; 4-6; 6-4 to seal the victory!  Andy Rooney and Will McArdle also won.  The team plays Concordia today at 5:15 pm in a very important SAC match.  Fans are welcome!!!   • The Boys Tennis Team defeated Bishop Luers last night 5-0.  The team is now 3-0 in the Conference.  They play Angola tonight at Zollner Stadium.  Match starts at 5:00 pm.

August 30

  • Since we had E-Learning last Friday, Student Council will have a call out meeting this Thursday at 7:20 am in Mrs. Ray’s Room, Room 214. Homecoming Court Nominations will open Tuesday morning at 8:00 am on Canvas and will run through Thursday at Noon. Thursday afternoon we will announce Homecoming Court. 
  • Philomena's Friends will have a callout meeting at 3:10 pm this afternoon in room 108.  If you'd like to learn how to knit or crochet or already know how to, this is the club for you.  No experience is necessary.  Students and adults are welcome. The meeting should last about 15-20 minutes.  If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Pierson in the Main office.
  • New traffic pattern will affect arrival and departure from school parking lots starting August 30/31.  Washington Center/St. Joe Center will be opened up and most lane restrictions removed, however, Clinton Street from Washington Sq. Shopping Plaza to the apartments south of school will be restricted to 1 lane each direction with restricted turns.  This WILL cause traffic delaysGive yourself extra time, leave home early - arrive at school on time.
  • Latin Club will meet from 3:10 pm - 4:00 pm today in room 103, Dr. J's room for Certamen (ker-tah-min) practice.  Come, even if this is your first meeting!
  • Reminder that the cafeteria will only be serving hot lunches this week.  There will be NO a la carte items and no extra lunches.  If you need more food, please pack extra food this week.  We should be back to normal with our kitchen staff next week.  Thank you for your understanding.

August 26

  • Tomorrow, Friday, August 27, will be an eLearning Day.  Sadly, we cannot serve lunch tomorrow to our students due to the cafeteria staff being quarantined.  We need Friday to get a plan together for lunches the following week.  For this reason, the Administration has decided to have an eLearning day on Friday.  
  • As a reminder, the procedure for eLearning is as follows per the handbook page 42: 

     - Assignments for all classes are posted by 9:00am on Friday,
August 27, on Canvas in the eLearning module.  

     - Teachers will be available online from 10:00am-12:00pm. Students simply log on to Canvas or Teams to access their teacher. Teachers will make it known to their classes how to reach them.   

     - Assignments are due the next school day at 8:00am, that means they are due by Monday, August 30.   

     - Attendance is taken by turning in the assignment to the teacher.  Next week, the week of August 30, lunches will be limited due to the substitute staff that will be assisting us. There will only be one regular lunch served each day. There is no ala carte line or extras being sold.  Each student can only get the one free lunch each day. If your student needs more than the regular/standard lunch, please have him/her bring extra food from home to supplement the lunch. Lunch on Monday, August 30, will be pizza. The Administration will be working to come up with a meal plan the rest of the week based off the inventory received tomorrow morning.

  • Do you like to knit or crochet?  Would you like to learn how to knit or crochet? Well, Philomena’s Friends is a new club this year and it’s the club for YOU!  We will have a callout meeting next Monday, August 30th right after school in room 108.  It will last about 20 minutes.   • Reminder:  Wednesday is an All School Mass and dismissal will be at 2:35pm.
  • The Bishop Dwenger Bowling Team has try-outs today from 3:30 - 5pm at Pro Bowl West.  We would love to have anyone join.  It doesn't matter if you are good or not - just come tryout!  Practices will be on Monday and Tuesday from 3:00pm - 5:00pm and Matches will be on Thursdays.  More information will be at Tryouts!
  • If you have not picked up your 2021 Yearbook, please do so before or after school in room 101.  A reminder that every student who attended Bishop Dwenger last year receives a Yearbook unless you completed the opt-out form.  If you are unsure if you have picked your Yearbook up, please ask Mr. Greg Jones in room 101.

  • Congratulations to the boys soccer team who triumphed over Leo 3-0.  Dominic Cruz had 2 goals and 1 assist, will Trahin had 1 goal and Luca Cruz had 2 assists.  Way to go Saints!

  • Make up picture day is tomorrow during all lunches.  This time is set aside for those students who did not get their picture taken on Verification Day.  Retake day for those who did not like their picture will be in September.
  • Rosary day will be Thursdays!  All are welcome to join Saints for Life which happens every Thursday at 7:20am in the Chapel.  We will pray the rosary for the unborn at this event every week.  Also Thursdays during lunch time there will be rosary making.  
  • Student council OFFICERS will have a meeting Friday morning in Mrs. Ray's room 214 at 7:20am.
