August 20
- On Tuesday night the boys' tennis team beat Adams Central 3-2 for their first win of the season. JV also got their first win of the season, winning 4-2. Last night the boys' tennis team won again, beating Columbia City 4-1. JV won their match as well, winning 4-2. Both Varsity and JV tennis teams are now 2-0 to start the season. They play at DeKalb tonight at 5PM.
- There will be a Boys Basketball informational meeting next Tuesday, August 25th right after school in room 117.
- Recycling will meet today and every Tuesday and Thursday in Mrs. Wheeler's room 121 at 3:05. All are welcome to make Bishop Dwenger School a greener school.

- Rosary for Life will begin this Friday morning at 7:20 in the chapel.
- St. Charles Cardinal Fest is looking for MANY volunteers. Flyers are posted around the school with a QR code so you can sign up to help. This is an easy and fun way to pick up some flex hours for service!
- There are still openings for helpers and blood donation for the BD Fall Blood Drive! You need to be 16 years or older to donate blood, and meet the height and weight requirements. If you are a fall athlete, you also need to check with your coach to see if you are able to donate. Once you sign up on the Mobile Serve app, make sure you stop by Pastoral Ministry to pick up a permission slip from the red folder on Ms. Wolf’s office door. If you have any questions, see Ms. Wolf in Pastoral Ministry.

- Softball Call-Out Meeting There is a softball call-out meeting for all girls interested in playing softball in the spring. If you are interested in trying out, please attend a meeting in Coach Noll's Room, Room 114, at 3:05 PM next Monday, the 24th. We will discuss the fall ball schedule and other details.
August 19
- Congratulations to the boys and girls Cross Country teams for both coming in first place in their respective races at the Dekalb 4k last night! Top finishers for the girls were: Cassie Osenga in 3rd and Reagen Furnas, Ella Beale, Natalee Ade, Lucy Charland, Elizabeth Veerkamp and Katherine Osenga finishing in the top 10! For the boys: Parker Miller in 2nd, Ethan Chenowith in 3rd, and Sam Veerkamp and Liam McCanna in the top 10! Way to co Cross Country Saints!!!
- The Girls Golf team beat Wayne and Snider last night at Brookwood Golf course. Ava Alvarado placed 1st overall shooting a 41

- Starting this year Mrs. Horne and the Key Club will now oversee the recycling program here at Dwenger. We are starting TODAY. We will meet in Mrs. Wheeler’s room 121 after school. Students who are not in Key club can still volunteer for service hours. If you have any questions please see Mrs. Horne in Guidance.
- FBLA - Future Business Leaders of America - will be having two callout meetings, the first on Thursday, August 20th at 7:20am and the second on Tuesday, August 25th at 3:10pm. Both meetings will take place in the cafeteria.

- Attention Girls Soccer: Hefner fields are closed. Your practice will now be today at 7pm at Shields Field.
- A big thank you to the Seniors who helped with Freshman Orientation last week. You guys did a great job pumping up the Freshman and helping introduce them to the school. If you have not turned in your blue shirt, please get that turned into Mrs. Horne in Guidance as soon as possible. Thanks again!

There is a softball call-out meeting for all girls interested in playing softball in the spring. If you are interested in trying out, please attend a meeting in Coach Noll's Room, Room 114, at 3:05 PM next Monday, the 24th. We will discuss the fall ball schedule and other details. Jill: Feel free to condense this as needed for the tv's. Thank you both! - Starting this year Mrs. Horne and the Key Club will now oversee the recycling program here at Dwenger. We are hoping to get started this week with the first day being tomorrow, Tuesday August 18th. We will meet in Mrs. Wheeler’s room after school where Mrs. Horne will give instructions. This suspenseful and imaginative production brings several of Poe's most famous stories to life, including tales of mystery, madness, revenge, and the supernatural. Audiences will journey through eerie settings and encounter unforgettable characters as Poe's haunting stories unfold on stage. WELCOME BACK BISHOP DWENGER SAINTS!!!
- Attention seniors:
Please check Canvas for a message from Miss McGuire regarding the Lilly scholarship. The Lilly scholarship is the largest local scholarship available to Bishop Dwenger students. If you're eligible, you are encouraged to apply. The Lilly scholarship application must be submitted online by noon on August 26. Please see Miss McGuire and the guidance office if you have any questions. - If you are looking for opportunities for SERVICE HOURS, here are a few!
- 1. The Red Cross is in desperate need of blood donations. If you are 16 years or older you could possibly help to save a life through the donation of blood! September 3rd is our fall blood drive at Bishop Dwenger. Check in your theology classroom to see if you meet the height/weight requirement is able to donate blood during the Bishop Dwenger blood drive. If you do, sign up for an open time slot on the MobileServe app and pick up your permission slip from Ms. Wolf in Pastoral Ministry. There are also slots open for underclassmen and those that cannot give blood to help during the blood drive.
- 2. On October 12th, help the Right To Life of Northeast Indiana prepare and set up for the Right to Life banquet. You will be helping to set up tables, chairs, decoration, registration areas, and offering help in any other way needed. Sign up to help on the MobileServe app! If you have any questions, see Ms. Wolf in Pastoral Ministry.
- 3. Notre Dame Federal Credit Union is hosting a branch blessing with Bishop Rhoades on August 19th for their new branch downtown in the Harrison at Parkview Field. They are looking for 2-3 students who can help direct event guest to the parking area from 4pm to 6pm. Please reach out to Ms. Wolf by August 17th to see if this would be a good flex service opportunity for you.
- Call-outs Meetings for Clubs:
- 1. A call out meeting for Euell Wilson Tutors will be on Tuesday, August 18th at 3:10pm in room 218. The Euell Wilson Center Tutors is a club where Saints tutor grade school children (called buddies) at the Euell Wilson Center to help increase literacy levels in an after-school program. Each Saint works one on one with a child building relationships, encouraging buddies to complete schoolwork, reading with buddies to improve their literacy level, as well as having fun and playing board games with buddies. This club is open to all grade levels to join. List hours are received for tutoring the children. Bishop Dwenger does provide a bus to the Euell Will Center. Permission slips are necessary to ride the bus. If you have any questions, see Ms. Wolf in Pastoral Ministry.
- 2. A call out for the St. Gemma Club will be on Wednesday, August 19th at 7:20am in Pastoral Ministry. The St. Gemma Club is a club that helps the young ladies of Bishop Dwenger to grow in knowledge, fellowship, and faith together. We discuss various topics pertaining to the dignity and vocation of women in the world today. We spend time learning about saints who we can model our life after to grow in virtue. If you have any questions, see Ms. Wolf in Pastoral Ministry.
- 3. A call out for the Saints for Life Club will be onThursday, August 20th at 7:20 am in the room 218. Saints for Life is committed to promoting and defending the sanctity of all human life from conception to death. We work to spread awareness for the respect of the dignity of all human beings through chalk walks, participation in various marches, working with local organizations on collecting items and helping them in times of need.
