FAFSA Completion Events

Every year, a lot of financial aid goes unclaimed because families do not realize they qualify for need-based financial assistance to help their student pay for postsecondary schooling. Therefore, the Indiana Department of Education is requiring all families of graduating seniors in the class of 2024 to complete a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) for the 2024-25 school year. FAFSA is an online form and will be available on December 31, 2023, at https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa. The FAFSA deadline in Indiana is April 15, 2024, but families are encouraged to submit it earlier, as many colleges have an earlier deadline to receive full financial aid consideration. Need-based financial aid includes loans, grants, and work-based study.

The FAFSA release date has been delayed this year because it has undergone significant changes and simplifications. It is expected to be easier and quicker for families to complete than in prior years. However, there is ample local assistance available, if needed, including here at Bishop Dwenger. Below are FAFSA Completion Events, regardless of where your student plans to go to school.

One week prior to attending any of the events listed below, you and your student will each need an FSA ID. To create your FSA IDs, visit https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/create-account/launch. If you have a pre-existing FSA ID you used for an older child or yourself, you may use that account. You do not need to create a new one for yourself. You will just need to create one for your senior student.
